dj.WYSIWYG. That’s short for “What You See is What You Get” and an ode to my career as a web designer/developer. IRL, my name is Patrick. I grew up on New Wave/Synthpop and related genres, but never got a chance to mix without the equipment. An audiophile, I realized my music collection was large enough to compile a megamix digitally and got started in the Summer of 2009.

New Wave in Chicago. Euromix… ’nuff said. I recall hearing many mixes that weren’t done by VMC, and there weren’t as many that really stood out. Musically inclined, I learned to discern what separated the good mixes from the great ones. And while I always appreciated the genre and songs, I had more appreciation for the ones that were great. Not only did I enjoy them thoroughly, but could listen to them over and over again.

Over the years, my music library grew exponentially with a variety of extended singles like an actual DJ. And of the mixtapes I had, they always shied away from the lesser known tracks. And I always yearned for mixes that featured the best of the best. The mixes I created are my response, and what you’ll also find here.

But there’s also more to my music side than just what contemporaries refer to as “New Wave” (It’s actually more Synthpop, but is a discussion for another time). Music is and was a big part of me, and it can take on a life of its own with this website.

Cheers!
